crash as best picture? hmmm..maybe i saw a different “crash”

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

i saw Crash this wknd and wasn’t thrilled. i’m glad they made this movie…but, an oscar???

maybe my expectations were too great. maybe it needs to be seen in a theater. maybe maybe maybe…i just don’t know.

the acting was phenomenal…and, some of the scenes were simply amazing. but, the movie as a whole was just too much. as a friend of mine put it - a bad mashup of grand canyon and pulp fiction.

yeah, yeah, i had to throw in a web 2.0 reference … and no, he didn’t say mashup :)

seriously, there were way too many characters/stories with very little resolution. and, it was insanely contrived.

ahh, what could have been…

“good night and good luck” was far far better and…in many ways more important…

most blogged stories on yahoo! news. how did i miss this?

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

yahoo! news has long had most emailed, viewed, highest rated, etc. but, I just noticed their “most blogged” section. when did this roll out? and, not sure how they are doing this…

unfortunately, the blogs are not linked and there isn’t an available feed…

but, it’s a start…

back from vacation -> heading to chicago

had a great time in sunny AZ…great hiking and swimming…

but, now we’re back to reality and RAIN. at least the weather is going to be pretty nice in chicago. and, in fact, it may be warmer :) that’s quite odd for this time of year!

posting will return, but will be a bit lighter than normal…

on vacation…light posting, but lots of “flickring”

feedburner has a number of great promotional tools for publishers - buzzboost, browser friendly style sheets, and animated gifs, etc…

today, the “headline animator” just got a fresh coat of paint…actually, we put it in on a diet and launched a slimmer, more email friendly version.

here’s what mine looks like (minus the contact info)…

donloeb.com - rss, blogs & social media

i love this…it’s simple, unobtrusive and darn useful. every publisher with a feedburner feed should add this to their email sig. it’s a very easy way to generate traffic and subscribers…

great job matt and team!

where’s the sun?

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

yeah, yeah, we don’t have any real reason to complain. but, the rain is getting old.

25 days of rain in march is way too many (15 to be exact). and, more to come in april…

isn’t it supposed to be spring? the monsters (read dogs and kids) are getting a bit antsy…
